about us, critical and literary contributions

Artpoint Firenze had its beginnings in the historic Santa Croce district in Florence. The year was 1996 and it was actually a cultural association known as Art Point - Black.

The exhibition venue in Borgo Allegri hosted a series of interesting shows curated and introduced by the artistic director Rolando Giovannini with the assistance of his friend and art critic Pier Paolo Castellucci. They shared a common goal of presenting different forms of artistic expression, with particular emphasis on the non-figurative – but always considering quality as the main criteria.

With its constant commitment, Art Point - Black soon earned a reputation as a special cultural reference point in Florence for many artists, art critics and art lovers.

In 1998 Art Point - Black established the "Abstracta" award for painting; it was an important milestone in the Gallery's historic-artistic development, and the 9th edition was held in 2006.

In 2007 the Gallery made a shift towards innovation by moving from the Borgo Allegri premises and adopting a new concept in art promotion.

Artpoint Firenze, contemporary Art Gallery, was founded in 2008, establishing its raison d'être on an ability to renew and change while maintaining its well-structured character and motivation.
